When we know our type and that of the key players in our life, we can communicate with more empathy and understanding. Identifying personality types helps us approach others from a different place. Rather than taking things personally we can see there are different ways of behaving, interacting and communicating based on your orientation. The Enneagram also helps find new ways to grow spiritually, emotionally and psychologically. It can also be an effective guide in business, the workplace and your career path.
An excellent way to discover more of what your personality type does and how you connect with another person’s strength and weaknesses whether it be work, friendship, home, intimate relationship is to take an Enneagram test. Here are two links to websites that offer them. I have an account with Ennegram institute but I also find Hellan Palmers Enneagram test just as helpful. One of the books I recommend is Enneagram with Work and Love which shows combinations with different types and what the strengths and weaknesses of some of these combinations and I would highly recommend that if you feel that you want to work on relationships. Another book recommendation is Magic, the reason I’ve chosen this book though it may appear to be gimmicky, is that it gives you really good strategies on how to rework positive thinking and sometimes we get in negative cycles in our lives with our families and partners. In order to turn that around you really have to turn your thinking around so that you can generate a positive thinking cycle so I would recommend these strategies.
