My mission in therapy is to provide a safe time and place for you. The therapeutic relationship is very important. People seek counseling for many reasons. Typically they know they could be happier or more peaceful. During our sessions most clients find relief from their symptoms within a few months. They also develop insight and skills. I work with people from many different backgrounds, lifestyles, cultures and ages.
Susan has been a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist since 1994. For over 25 years, she has had a clinical practice and has served hundreds of couples and individuals. She has led groups that have helped people find the balance between their own fulfillment and connection to each other.
As a trained mediator, she also practices co-parenting counseling and mediation with couples and parents who are in the process of separating. Susan facilitates groups in both Berkeley and San Francisco in the areas of separation/divorce, couple therapy, and relationship therapy.
Understanding that people are often blocked in life due to trauma, she also helps these clients by using the EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) technique, and other somatic-based therapies. In addition, she has in-depth training in Narrative, Family Systems, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Enneagram.
Enneagram tests are an excellent way to discover more of what your personality type does and how you connect with another person’s strengths and weaknesses whether it be work, friendships, home, or intimate relationships. Susan is specialized in many creative methods to work with a variety of clients.
